The school
Klébergsskóli is a primary school serving both rural and urban communities — the oldest operating primary school in Reykjavík since the merger of Kjalarnes with the city in 1999, now enrolling around 128 students in grades 1–10. The school is located just above Kléberg, from which it takes its name. Klébergsskóli's guiding principles are respect, collaboration, and ambition.
The school is part of a unified institution with five workplaces: Berg Preschool, Klébergsskóli, Kátakot After-School Program, Flógyn Youth Center, and Kléberg Music School, with about 58 employees, and the city library, which doubles as the school library during school hours.

School council and parent council of Berg Preschool 2025-2026
Primary schools must have an active school council that serves as a forum for consultation between the principal and the school community on the school operation. The main role of the school council is to be a forum for all representatives of the school community to consult on school matters. Klébergsskóli's school council also serves as the school council for Berg Preschool, as they are part of the same institution.

What's on the menu?
Klébergsskóli operates a cafeteria for students and staff. School meals are free, but it's important for the school to maintain oversight, keep track of allergy and intolerance information, and limit food waste. You still need to register students for meal subscriptions, and also register students who have food allergies.
