Parents and guardians must request leave in advance for their child, whether for part of a day or longer.

Compulsory education
Compulsory School Act 91/2008, Article 15, Paragraph 4. Compulsory education
- The principal may grant temporary exemption from attendance in specific subjects or entirely if parents of a school-age child request it for valid reasons. Parents must ensure the child makes up any missed coursework during the exemption period.
Note! Parents should request relevant school materials from their child's homeroom teacher well in advance. This allows time to prepare the documents parents need to collect from the school before the leave begins.
